In the fourth quarter of 2018, Atari announced a strategic partnership with Animoca Brands Limited, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands Corporation Limited (listed on the ASX: "AB1" code). The deal gives Animoca Brands the rights of production and publication of blockchain versions of the popular mobile game titles Atari RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch and Goon Squad in the world (excluding China,
Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao).
Animoca Brands and Atari also plan on exploring other video game, product development, and blockchain opportunities. This agreement came in the form of a signed Memorandum of Understanding between the two companies.
RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch recorded over 19 million downloads worldwide and has benefited from the successful launch of the extension of the water park in July 2018 and the addition of new features in September 2018 in partnership with Foodgod (aka Jonathan Cheban), famous for his appearances in the reality show " Keeping Up with the Kardashians "Which brings together a community of 3 million
followers.
Goon Squad transports players into an underground world dominated by gangsters, gambling and fast fights. Players can trace a path from the modest to the Goon Almighty Godfather in the title of free game, collecting cards to move up and build the ultimate criminal empire.
The deal between Atari and Animoca Brands will make Atari a shareholder in the Animoca company, which is a great sign for Atari's future, as they recently released their 2018 earnings, and are looking strong moving forward.
